Thoughts on Sleeping With Your Tarot Deck
by ReikiAngel

I usually wrap my decks up in red cloth (cotton, silk,  any natural red material).  I learned about that from some of my Native  American friends.  This one woman who I went to Seminary with in NY many  years ago, taught me "how to" sleep with a deck to really deepen your  relationship.

You start with a new deck.  You take your right thumb and make an imprint
across the front and back of each card.  Then you shuffle it real well, real well.  Then you put it in order starting with the Fool and the rest of the major Arcana.  Then you put each of the pips in order starting with the Aces.  You sleep with one card a night, keeping track of any dreams you have (I'm not good about that part).  The rest of the deck that you're not sleeping with gets kept in a wrapped red bag or cloth.  When you are done with the card (some you may sleep with more than one night as you might forget) you place it in the bottom of the pile.  One of my good friends washed a Hermit from the R/W deck.  Washed and Dried!!!  LOL.

I have done this with the Merlin Deck, Thoth and Legend Decks.  I have been trying to decide if I want to sleep with another one.  It has been many, many years since I have done this.  But, I become extremely well connected with each deck I do this with.   I used to read publically with the Merlin deck and now I use the Legend.  I use Thoth for myself along with Medicine Cards and any other deck I might wish to work with.  I do keep a weekly log of cards/feelings I get with this.  It amazes me how accurate these cards play in my life.  I may sleep with my Art Noveau.  Haven't decided yet.  It takes 78 days!!!  And, you can't use the deck while you are in the process of sleeping with it.  So it's something to think about.
