Tarot of the Old Path
by Howard Rodway and Sylvia Gainsford

This is a relatively new deck to my collection, though it is far from a new deck.  My very good friend Michel gave me this as a Yule gift and it is really a fabulous deck. Created by a team of famous witches, including the Farrars and Margot Adler, this deck has some wonderful pagan imagery.

The suits used in this deck are the traditional swords, rods, pentacles and cauldrons in place of cups, a fact I found irritating since people simply don't drink from shiny little cauldrons as pictured in this suit.  Otherwise I had no problems with it.

The style of artwork is comfortable and the figures in the deck are drawn in deeply renaissance period clothing. The symbolism in it is quite feminist and draws on a number of cultural sources for its inspiration.  Another deck I use
for personal reflection, however there is a substantial amount of nudity in it which prevents me from using it to read for clients, unless they are pagan clients.
