This
deck was pleasant to look at and hold. The style of the artist, Matt
Myers, is nice and comfortable, easy to see. I didn't feel that there
were very many symbolic images contained within the cards, however.....
the pictures are
pretty
much what-you-see-is-what-you-get. If you spent a long time trying
to find hidden meanings in them, you'd be wasting your time.
The Major Arcana seem to have taken the majority of the artist's attention, they have the most innovation and creativity. The court cards are pretty but not spectacular, and the numbered cards in each suit are nice and simple and seem to be portraying the same couple from the early stages of a relationship thru the realization of the outcome.
The
suits are Swords, Staves, Cups and Coins. Myers uses color lavishly
in every card design and the suits also have color coordination with the
elements that accompany each. The cards are slightly smaller than
the Rider deck and
quite
a bit narrower, making them comfortable for just about anyone to hold,
and they flex enough to shuffle easily.
It's a nice enough deck for the collector, and there is nothing in the cards to offend anyone. Persons of any faith could use these cards with equal ease and comfort. Because of the orientation towards couples in the Minor Arcana, this deck is ideally suited for doing readings involving relationship dynamics.
