The Egyptian Oracle
a guest review by Dan Gentleman
The Egyptian Oracle
is a divination system that the included book claims to be an ancient system
used rather obscurely over the years. Included in package are 28 hieroglyphic
tiles (they feel ceramic,) a 157 page hardcover book, and a two-sided board.
While hard-core Egyptologists will certainly find faults in the descriptions
of the deities, hieroglyphics, or other details, this set still accomplishes
what it set out to do. It gives a method of divination that is both easy
to use and easy to understand. The colored board is stylish, has two different
layouts (the standard layout and the ankh layout,) and folds nicely in
the included box. The tiles are easy to handle and read, though it takes
a few minutes to familiarize yourself with the Egyptian counting system.
The book explains things simply.
As with any divination
method, this system should be used with the thought of getting insight
on present situations or possible future paths. Like Tarot, it cannot directly
tell you what lies in the future. All said, it's a nice set to have
around. For people who are used to Tarot or other card-based systems, it
may be an interesting insight on other possible divination methods. Lastly,
it is MUCH more coffee-spill-resistant than all Tarot decks I've used to
date.
