Egyptian Tarots
(I Tarocchi Egiziani)
by M. O. Wegener and Silvana Alasia

Yet another fine offering from Lo Scarabeo, this is mainly an art deck but it retains enough tarot symbolism to be useable.  The Egyptian detailing is accurately portrayed and even Bill, my resident expert on such things, didn't have any complaints about this deck, not even when it came to the swords.  They are all accurate for the time period shown.

The style of this deck is made to look like ancient Egyptian papyrus scrolls unrolled and showing paintings of ancient scenes from Egyptian life.  As such, it is a remarkable looking piece of work.  Out of all the Egyptian styled decks I have seen, I rate it right up at the top of the list.

The card size is smaller than standard, well, I should say, the standard Lo Scarabeo size.  It shuffles easily and the cards handle very nicely.  The traditional suits of Swords, Cups, Wands and Pentacles are used, as are courts of Kings, Queens, Knights and Knaves.  The borders on the cards are black to contrast with the beige of the papyrus.

There is no little white booklet with the deck.  In keeping with Lo Scarabeo tradition, there is a series of cards at the back of the deck describing the Simple Cartomantic Method of Divination in five languages.  The cards themselves are all titled in five languages as well; Italian, English, French, Spanish and German.

Overall I recommend this deck for anyone looking to add another good art collectible to their personal collection; anything by Lo Scarabeo is always a worthwhile addition.  It would also be good for Egyptian collectors, and while it is not for the beginner, a practiced reader could use this for readings if so desired.
