Another edition from Lo Scarabeo, this is a really unusual and beautiful deck. The art style is rendered in tempera paints, and is very fairy-tale like, with fairies, frogs, and other assorted wee folk. There is no connection to the esoteric society, Order of The Golden Dawn. In this deck, the golden dawn referred to is an expression for the coming of a new day and the joyful feelings that evokes.
The arrangement of the deck is the usual fare for most European decks, in other words, the numbered cards in the suits are pips and then there are the court cards and trumps which are done in exquisite detail. The Major Arcana follow traditional titling and seem to be fairly consistent in their symbolism. The Minor Arcana have the traditional suits of Chalices, Swords, Wands and Pentacles and normal courts of King, Queen, Knight and Knave.
The cards are slightly smaller and narrower than standard decks and thus handle and shuffle easily. There is no little booklet with the deck but rather a series of cards at the end which delineate the Simplified Cartomancy Method of laying out the cards, with extremely short meanings for each. I don't recommend this deck for beginners due to the lack of information available.
It would make an excellent deck for collectors, however
